You Can Pick Your Friends…
Are you in full Christmas mode yet? I’m not. Usually, by this time, I’ve had Christmas music blaring since September. Shopping? Heh. Forget it. It’s going to be a gift card kinda Christmas from me this year.
Lots and lots going on at the church during Christmas-
This Sunday (December2) the Children’s Choir will be presenting their musical and I’m guessing they’ll be doing the regular Hanging of the Green activities, yes? (Somebody chime in here if this is not so and I’ve lost my mind). Y’all are going to want to come and support Miss Peggy and the kids. They’ve worked so hard on the program.
I was watching Miss Peggy rehearse with the little cherubs the other night. She is a saint amongst saints for doing that. She’s so patient. My kid alone is enough to make
somebody tear each hair out of their head individually. That is a lively group of kids, but, they are fabulous. I can’t wait to see the program. I wonder which kid will be the “Nose Picker?” There’s ALWAYS one. In all the years I’ve had kids in music programs (my oldest is 16) there has never been a program that at least one kid doesn’t pick their nose. Watch it be my kid this year.
There will also be a fellowship following the program. If you would like to bring some sort of finger food, that would be fabulous. The Fellowship will commence in the Foyer. I LOVE it when they do stuff in the Foyer (or is it “Foy-YAY?”). It’s a beautiful space.
I’m going to see if I can get Loren to do a post about the WEE Fundraiser that’s going on Saturday. I don’t have all the info on it.

Thanksgiving
What does ‘Thanksgiving’ mean to you? Do you have a favorite memory of Thanksgiving? How will your family celebrate the holiday?
Don’t be shy. I know y’all are out there reading. I see the stats. Talk to us.
I’m thankful for so much. Thankful for the family’s health….Tara had a trip to the ER this year, in an ambulance, Trevor got his diagnosis for Asperger’s Syndrome, Tyler grew another couple inches, my mother in law had cancer surgery and subsequent treatments, Terry had a good work year….I’m thrilled to be in a job I like, and excited to see what God’s doing at 235 Indian Lake Rd. God just keeps pouring out blessings on the Smith’s.
As for memories, my Thanksgiving memories involve long car trips or plane trips. When I was a kid, we usually went to San Antonio, Texas for Thanksgiving every year. My father was from there and all of his large family was there (most of them still are). We had lots of our Thanksgiving meals at my grandparents’ Senior Citizen’s complex.
My memories of this day here are so vivid. My cousin Doug brought some Vietnamese friends with him and my sister (who was then about 7) was scared to death she was going to have hug and kiss them cause the Collie Family was one kissing bunch. That’s me there with my beautiful mother and my dear Grandma & Pop Collie. They’re both long gone, Pop in 1979 and Grandma in 1984. My dad’s been gone since 1992. Sometimes I wish there were such a thing as a time machine so I could back to this Thanksgiving of 1973 for about 5 minutes.
Come on now….share some thoughts with us.

A Different Kind of Christmas Card
Jamey Tucker is a reporter for WKRN in Nashville and a blogger. He’s also a committed Christian and a Hendersonville resident. He’s a nice feller. I’ve got him linked over there >.
You need to see Jamey’s most recent post. If that doesn’t provoke a thought, then nothing will.

You Arta Be In Pictures
I have uploaded a bunch of various and sundry photographs taken in and around church lately on Flickr. Go here and you can see them. I put a whole bunch on this morning from yesterday’s activities. I’m trying to figure out how to get the Flickr badge on the webpage. I know how to do it, but, it’s not cooperating.
If you have any photos you want to add, PLEASE feel free to upload them to the Flickr page. Email me at sharoncolliesmith@gmail.com and I’ll tell you how to get them uploaded. It’s very easy (Kim Hudgins, I’m talking to you!)
Also…we want more blog contributors. Email to the above-mentioned email address if you’d like a sign on.

Shoebox Greetings
Something else huge happening tomorrow that I forgot about is that tomorrow is the day we bring our shoeboxes in for Samaritan’s Purse.

Just a quick word of thanks!
Thanks so much for all the love and care you all have shown my family during the past few days. I am completely energized and can’t wait to see how God leads next week. So many of you took Darlene and the boys in. We are humbled and so very thankful.
God, we pray for direction and for a word from You! I pray for clarity and revival over the next few days. Show us Your power. Continue to show us how to laugh, work, celebrate, weep, and grow.

The Deacons are deac’in at bluegrass!
Great Deacon’s meeting last night. We are beginning to rethink together what our deacons can really be about. I’ll share more later, but there are lots of great things on the horizon!

Sunday’s Coming!
Sunday is a HUGE day at Bluegrass. Mucho activity going on so listen up:
Dig, if you will… we’ll be voting on Matt this Sunday. Be sure you are there to Rock the Vote.
Very important…this Sunday is Renew The Legacy Sunday. This is the Sunday we’ll be bringing our talents. I’m pretty pumped about seeing how we did. I’m predicting we meet and possibly go over the goal. Don’t forget your envelopes!
Lastly…we are feasting after church with the Annual Bluegrass Baptist Church Throwdown or more formally, the Thanksgiving Lunch. The church is going to provide the turkey and dressing and we need to bring side dishes and desserts. It would be a great Sunday, too, to bring somebody with you. Besides the fact, that Baptist women are some of the finest cooks around, it will be a great time of celebration and thanks to God for all He’s done and is doing.
